Smokelore Botanicals is a small scale manufacturing company on Vancouver Island that farms and assembles organic, biodegradable, and zero waste alternatives. There is no tobacco, no nicotine, and no cannabis - only delicious, pure, organic plant matter processed in small batches by hand. The tubes are made of 100% tree cellulose and unbleached paper. The packaging contains no plastic whatsoever and are fully compostable.

Hi, I'm Ashta.
I'm a farmer, forager, and a mother of two. In 2012, I began experimenting with burnable and smokable plants I found in the forests around me. There were times when I had no preparations, and hoped to purchase a product that was ready to use. Not finding any, I began the process of creating Smokelore Botanicals.

I live on a 5-acre organic family farm called Chorus Pond located in Coast Salish Territory on lands stewarded for thousands of years by the Stz'uminus people. We named this place Chorus Pond because every spring, a huge population of Pacific Tree Frogs sing so loudly, that it's like they are heralding in a new growing season.

In 2018, I began this endeavor by establishing the different plants I would need. On the farm, we grow many many varieties of botanicals. Over time, I tested recipes, techniques, and tools, until I was happy with the outcomes. For plants not grown at Chorus Pond, I find in neighbouring forests and employ conscientious foraging practices. Business development plans began in late 2019, and Smokelore Botanicals was officially launched in the spring of 2021.
